FIRST PAPER

Subject: Poesía Inglesa de los s.XIX y XX, grupo B.

Student’s name: Eva Bru Peña.

Title of the paper: The influences Gerard Manley Hopkins received and the influences he left over other authors.

Author or topic: Gerard Manley Hopkins

Abstract:

In this paper I will deal myself the work of the author Gerard Manley Hopkins, on which I will focus on the aspect of the influences he has received to develop his own style of poetry. In order to do this I will focus on an introduction where I will explain the reasons why my partner and I have chosen this author to work with his poetry and then I will develop the central part of my work where I will explain the movements and authors that have influenced Hopkins life  in order  to characterize his work and his poetry.

Later on, I will develop the second part of my paper which will focus on the influences that the same Hopkins has left over other authors and the poetic movements of the twentyeth century,  time during which Hopkins will be known as his work appeared 30 years after his death, thanks to one of his friends who made possible his poetry and the literary technique to be known which is ahead of its time. So we can characterize Hopkins as a forerunner of the twenteth century literary movements. To finish with my work I will do a conclusion where I will explain my personal experience about my work about this author, and will show the work of my colleague, Mª Carmen Martínez Fernández, which will address the concept of religion in the work of Gerard Manely Hopkins’s poetry.

Auto-evaluation: I think I should deserve a 6 on my work.
